As a parent and self-proclaimed pretty-smart guy I didn't need another book telling me how stuff was broken. That's why The Test was a breath of fresh air. The beginning of the book gives a good overview of where we are and how we got here. The rest offers real actionable methods for raising kids either outside the test, or in, while preserving their individual sense of curiosity and learning. My great fear as a father is that my son will be forced to sit and learn by rote without opportunities to explore on his own or be rewarded for finding his own path. The Test offers alternatives and the sense of relief I have now is worth five stars.
