The answer I had been looking for....

I came across this book after hours of research. I am 32 years old and have endometriosis. After my second child was born I had been having a hard time loosing weight-it was coming off but very slowly. I was also exhausted, cranky, and many other things that endometriosis brings on. Knowing all that I know about having this disease is that it causes various hormone imbalances. I am a firm believer in using diet to regulate and that is how I found this book. I started 3 weeks ago and I noticed immediate changes. I lost 6 lbs and only now have 3 to go to make it to my pre-baby weight, although I have to say that is just the added bonus. I feel so much better, I can get out of bed in the morning without feeling sluggish and I am not nearly as moody. I definitely recommend this book to people with any of the hormone imbalances that Natasha talks about. Endometriosis is something I'll have for the next 20 years and I feel like I've found a way to manage it.

I have a confession. I suck at meditation. I have tried to establish the daily practice of meditation but with little success. Inevitably my mind will flit from idea to idea with the rapidity of a rhesus monkey swinging through the trees in an Asian jungle. My monkey mind will not be silenced. Thus my purchase of 8 Minute Mediation. Surely its author Victor Davich, a 25 year veteran of meditation, could offer some sound advice to the novice meditator like me. And indeed he does.

i picked this up somewhat on a whim, although i didn't realize at the time that it was a light novel and not a manga. being a fan of RPGs it's great to see the book bring familiar tropes to life, but still inject them with its own unique elements. (watching the hero's stats level up is as satisfying as actually playing an RPG yourself.) the use of classic mythology is fun, and the harem elements are light hearted and not offensive. read it all in one sitting, and now just have to wait impatiently for the next release.

A little too trite or hackneyed, take your pick, they both mean pretty much the same thing
This was a nice (not always the most positive adjective one can assign) little summer story that had numerous characters, few of whom seemed real. I would have to agree with the other reviewers who found the book somewhat disappointing. Neither Dabney or Clenendin demonstrated any really admirable qualities, they were mired in self-interest. Clenendin and Dabney's "love affair" wasn't the stuff of Dr. Zhivago, it was more extreme stupidity that lacked credibility. Not to mention selfishness. Dabney suffers from a disorder that won't allow her to leave the island (other than to receive a degree from Harvard, really? That seems like a smear against the University's mind-broadening capabilities!) She then lets her "soul mate" leave the island to pursue a career (why else would you get a degree from Yale?) refusing to go with him, even though she's pregnant. She ultimately marries a decent man whose tragic flaw is that he's committed to his work, at which he's brilliant, she still...

Limited resource, with outdated battery information.
Much of this book is spot on. Excellent info on shading. The book totally over looks new battery technology. Lifepo4 chemistry batteries (lithium iron phosphate) can have over 4 times the charge cycle life of lead acid batteries. Also the book does not mention smart chargers that desulfate and maintain lead acids to a degree. For example the technology used by the tesla tracker solar charger, made by the folks at tesla chargers dot com. This charger does a "toping charge" gently bringing lead acid batteries to a slightly over charged state to fully remove the sulfates from the lead plate. If you plan to have a lead acid based system, the Solar Electricity Handbook will tell you very little on how to get the maximum life to your batteries. That could cost you a fortune! I first heard about this book 17 years ago. At that time, I was in a direct sales company and had the good fortune to attend a seminar conducted by a businessman named Jim Rohn.

Good mystery..
As a lover of romantic suspense I always find it’s a sign of good writing when I find myself feeling sympathy for the killer. Now that doesn’t always happen as some are just too sick and twisted to relate to but the killer in Bridged is one I found myself understanding his reasoning’s behind what he was doing.

This second book in the series picks up a few months after the firsts one. Mason and Ava are now practically living together and making their relationship work even with the stresses of their two jobs. His as a detective with the Oregon State Police and she is a FBI agent. Their work collides with the death of a man found hanging naked on a bridge.

I liked how the author writes about the equal balance of home and work between these two. Mason and Ava have always been dedicated to their jobs but balancing a relationship between that is new to both of them and I thought they did a great job of it. No ego’s got in the way between them...

.... then you know what to expect & you will enjoy this book. What the reader should know is that this isn't a novel, but a collection of short stories about people who live on Chestnut Street. The stories don't really intertwine much, other than a random comment about a neighbor mentioned in a prior chapter. If you are someone who has heard about the wonderful books written by Maeve Binchy and want to read your first, I would recommend you start with a different book - one of her complete novels. While Chestnut Street is standard Maeve Binchy with unique but believable characters, her novels are much more engrossing with interwoven stories and you're not starting and stopping with each chapter.

I enjoyed Chestnut Street for several reasons - first, it was no different than the previous books written by Maeve Binchy with all her insights about people and characters and giving you a lot of story in a short shapter - what an imagination and knowledge of people the woman...

This book is fantastic! I have followed Will's Abandoned NYC blog for some time and his posts are always really good. For the book, he has selected the best of the best and seeing them in book format is quite something. The images are so much more vivid in the book than on the blog and Will's narrative really adds to the images.
What I really like is that the book is not the huge "coffee table" style for this type of book. You can easily hold this book and I can guarantee that you will be looking at it very often.

As a newer real estate agent myself, I have spent a fair amount of that initial capital outlay on books. Face it, it is often difficult to be trained by your broker because they are very busy people. So you buy books and read in your spare time.

I have a small library that I have bought and read through, many of the authors are considered the "Giants" of the industry. I wish I had bought this book first (I would have a much smaller library). I started to say that Jennifer Allan is quickly climbing the stairs to the Mt. I will state upfront that I am a fan of Jonathan Kellerman's novels and always look forward to the release of his latest. However, if you have never read one of his novels, don't start with this one. I don't feel this was his best effort. I thought it started out slow with a lot of introspective narrative on the part of Alex Delaware. There was also a lot of explanation about the characters histories...Alex's house burning, Milo's sexual preferences, etc. These passages felt awkward and I wondered why the information wasn't woven into the narrative more skillfully. I found myself thinking this didn't even feel like Jonathan Kellerman's writing. Also, there were several different storyline 'threads' and uncharacteristically, it never felt as if they were woven together. The resolution of the main conflict was puzzling. "On the Water" is beautifully written. More a series of discrete reminiscences than a unified memoir, it's held together by the author's distinctive voice and by his appreciation for all the natural and human creatures that attend the act of fishing. It is not, perhaps, quite as wonderful as his "The Fragrance of Grass" on bird hunting, but very satisfying, nonetheless. I do hope, however, that a couple of the glaring errors ("oriole" for "aureole" and "Lee Wolf" for "Lee Wulff") will be corrected in a second printing. This book is worthy of many.

Lacked Originality
As a mother of teens, I often read YA as a means to see what they are reading as well as have informed discussions about the books to enhance their learning. Over the past few years I have enjoyed commercial staples like The Hunger Games and Divergent, discovered hidden gems (such as the criminally over-looked Unwind) and endured moronic drivel like the Twilight series. As others have mentioned, I had high hopes for The 5th Wave based on stellar reviews and what appeared to be an interesting premise.

Superb, Enlightening, Engaging

This book is about to take the world by storm as did Rory's first book Take the Stairs. I got it this morning and am already well into it as it is a difficult book to put down. His take on time management is revolutionary and mind boggling as we throw off the old and put on the new way of thinking about time wasted, time well spent, and time in general. If you want to be enthralled and learn you must get this book. Thanks to Rory for all he has done to improve my life as I have learned taking the stairs is easier and more rewarding than the elevator or escalator and now I can't wait to get started on procrastinating on purpose. Elizabeth Bear has crafted an unassuming sort of story that's equal parts science fiction, steampunk, alternate history, western, pulp adventure, romance, and thriller. Surely, it seems like it should be too much, like there should be too many things going on, but it all comes together in just the right proportions to make for a fun read that will have you turning pages late into the night.

Hickman's slide is apparent

So, the first MP is good and the 2nd and 3rd are very strong. The fourth one got fairly lost in Openheimer's mind; in this one, the series has gone off the rails. Hopefully, the 6th volume will redeem the series, but it has been a disappointing year for the Manhattan Projects.

The strength of the series has been in the interplay between the many generals and scientists, and the series has lost that lately, especially in this volume. The art has been consistent - no disappointments there.

Hickman is clearly overstretched at this point. Too much of his work is all over the place. I admire his ambition for world building, but the plots in much of his work are not very tight and often hard to follow or reconcile. (In Sean Howe's excellent book "Marvel, the Untold Story," the new President of Marvel (and Rutgers undergrad) was explaining the problems with Marvel comics in the 1990's: "I have a law degree from Harvard. If I can't follow the story, it's not my fault.")

Finds a gravity and significance missing from other examples of literary fiction
About 2/3rds of the way through this very compelling collection, a memory stirred about the format and subjects and general tone. After I finished and skimmed the list of Charles Baxter's previous books, I got my answer - he edited a collection of Sherwood Anderson's work, author of that high school lit class chestnut "Winesburg, Ohio."

I can't say I enjoyed that book when I read it so many years ago - frankly, I don't think it's a good book for high school students who can't appreciate Anderson's perspective on adult life, much less the 1910s.

But - Baxter's excellent collection captures the emotions of each chapter's title. What he does most impressively is give these small, everyday moments a gravity and significance for the reader. Instead of inconsequential ennui that's the hallmark of too much literary fiction these days, Baxter gives us characters that I felt empathy for - I can't exactly explain why, but for most of these stories I forgot I was reading...

Interesting, enjoyable, unsettling.
Not that I haven't got enough books of my own, but having seen a few reviews of this recent release, I was interested enough to reserve it at my local library. Currently of the 25 scores on Amazon UK, 15 give it top marks and 10 settle for 4 stars, with no dissenting voices as yet.

Good looking travel guide with lots of nice pictures and plenty of useful information but is very similar to the many different travel guides already available in the market. For this particular edition there are twelve chapters examining a particular region of Peru.

In my opinion this travel guide from National Geographic does a good job of exploring the geography and landscape of Peru but not enough on its culinary offerings. But overall this is a capable guide and a useful companion if you are planing a trip to beautiful Peru.
